काकः, पुं, (कायते शब्दायते । कै शब्दे “इण्भीका- पाशल्यतिमर्च्चिभ्यः कन्” । उणां ३ । ४३ । इति कन् ।) स्वनामख्यातपक्षिविशेषः । काग् इति भाषा । तत्पर्य्यायः । करटः २ अरिष्टः ३ बलि- पुष्टः ४ सकृत्प्रजः ५ ध्माङ्क्षः ६ आत्मघोषः ७ परभृत् ८ बलिमुक् ९ वायसः १० । इत्यमरः । २ । ५ । २० ॥ वातजवः ११ बलः १२ दीर्घायुः १३ सूचकः १४ कृष्णः १५ ग्रामीणः १६ पिशुनः १७ कटखादकः १८ द्विकः १९ कागः २० । इति स्ततोऽर्च्चयेत्तन्निजनाममन्त्रैः । अर्घ्यासनालेपनपुष्पधूपै- र्नैवेद्यदीपाक्षतदक्षिणाभिः ॥ अभ्यर्च्चितेभ्यो विधिनोदितेन पिण्डाष्टकं तत् ददतु द्विजेभ्यः । मन्त्रेण संमग्त्र्य निवेदनार्थं कार्य्यं विचिन्त्यापसरेच्च किञ्चित्” ॥

काकः [kākḥ], [कै शब्दकरणे-कन् Uṇ.3.43]
A crow; काको$पि जीवति चिराय बलिं च भुङ्क्ते Pt.1.24.
