“श्रतिस्थानेस्वरान वक्तु नालं ब्रह्माऽपि तत्त्वतः। जले च सुतरांमार्गो मीनानां नोपलक्ष्यते। गगने पक्षिणां यद्वत्तद्वत् स्वरगता श्रुतिः। श्रुतिर्नादवशा प्रोक्ता तथाढ्याच कला मता। यथा तैल्गत सर्पिर्यथा काष्ठगतोऽनलः। ज्ञायतेऽत्रोपदेशेन तथा स्वरगता श्रुतिः। वीणादेस्तुश्रुतिर्ज्ञानं स्वरज्ञानं तु वंशजमं” संगीतदा॰। संगीतरत्नाकरेन षड्जादिभेदे अन्यविधाः श्रुतय उक्ता यथा
