सिद्धः, त्रि, (सिध + क्तः ।) प्रसिद्धः । (यथा, भागवते । १० । १८ । १६ । “एवं तौ लोकसिद्धाभिः क्रीडाभिश्चेरतुर्वने ॥”) नित्यः । निष्पन्नः । इति शब्दरत्नावली ॥ (यथा, रामायणे । २ । ९८ । ८ । “सिद्धार्थः खलु सौमित्रिर्यश्चन्द्रविमलोपमम् । मुखं पश्यति रामस्य राजीवाक्षं महाद्युतिम् ॥”) मुक्तः । इति हेमचन्द्रः ॥ (यथा, भागवते । ६ । १२ । १९ । “अहो दानव सिद्धोऽसि यस्य ते मतिरीदृशी ॥”) पक्वम् । यथा, सुमन्तुः । “पर्य्युसितं पुनःसिद्धमभोज्यमन्यत्र हिरण्यो- दकस्पर्शात् ।” इति श्राद्धतत्त्वम् ॥ मन्त्रसिद्धि- विशिष्टः । यथा, -- अथ मन्त्रसिद्धेरुपायाः । गौतमीये । “सम्यगनुष्ठितो मन्त्रो यदि सिद्धिर्न जायते । पुनस्तेनैव कर्त्तव्यं ततः सिद्धो भवेद्ध्रु वम् ॥ पुनरनुष्ठितो मन्त्रो यदि सिद्धिर्न जायते । पुनस्तेनैव कर्त्तव्यं ततः सिद्धो न संशयः ॥ पुनः सोऽनुष्ठितो मन्त्रो यदि सिद्धिर्न जायते । उपायास्तत्र कर्त्तव्याः सप्त शङ्करभाषिताः । भ्रामणं रोधनं वश्यं पीडनं पोषशोषणम् । दहनान्तं क्रमात् कुर्य्यात् ततः सिद्धो भवेन्मनुः ॥ भ्रामणं वायुवीजेन यथानुक्रमयोगतः । तम्मन्त्रं यन्त्र आलिख्य सिद्धकर्पूरकुङ्कुमैः । उशीरचन्दनाभ्यान्तु मन्त्रं संग्रथितं लिखेत् । क्षीराज्यमधुतोयानां मध्ये तल्लिखितं भवेत् ॥ पूजनाज्जपनाद्धोमात् भ्रामितः सिद्धिदो भवेत् भ्रमितो यदि न सिद्धः स्याद्रोधनं तस्य कारयेत् सारस्वतेन बीजेन संपुटीकृत्य संजपेत् । एवं रुद्धे भवेत् सिद्धो न चेदेतद्वशीकुरु ॥ अलक्तचन्दनं कुष्ठं हरिद्रा मादनं शिला । एतैस्तु मन्त्रमालिख्य भूर्ज्जपत्रे सुशोभने । धार्य्यकण्टे भवेत् सिद्धः पीडनं वास्य कारयेत् ॥ अधरोत्तरयोगेन पदानि परिजप्य वै । ध्यायेच्च देवतां तद्वत् अधरोत्तररूपिणीम् ॥ विद्यामादित्यदुग्धे न लिखित्वाक्रम्य चाङ्घ्रिणा तथाभूतेन मन्त्रेण होमः कार्य्यो दिने दिने ॥ पीडितो लज्जयाविष्टः सिद्धः स्यादथ पोषयेत् । बालायान्त्रितयं बीजं आद्यन्ते तस्य योजयेत् ॥ गोक्षीरमधुनालिख्य विद्यां पाणौ विभावयेत् । पोष्रितोऽयं भवेत् सिद्धो न चेत् कुर्व्वीत शोषणम् ॥ द्वाभ्यान्तु वायुबीजाभ्यां मन्त्रं कुर्य्याद्विदर्भिणम् एषा विद्या गले धार्य्या लिखित्वा वरभस्मना ॥ शोषितोऽपि न सिद्धः स्यात् दहनीयोऽग्नि- बीजतः । आग्नेयेन तु बीजेन मन्त्रस्यैकैकमक्षरम् ॥ आद्यन्तमध ऊर्द्धञ्च योजयेद्दाहकर्म्मणि । ब्रह्मवृक्षस्य तैलेन मन्त्रमालिख्य धारयेत् ॥ कण्ठदेशे ततो मन्त्रः सिद्वः स्याच्छङ्करोदितम् । इत्येतत् कथितं सम्यक् केवलं तव भक्तितः ॥ एकेनेव कृतार्थः स्याद्बहुभिः किमु सुव्रते ॥” इति तन्त्रसारः ॥ * ॥ सिद्धिविशिष्टः । स च चतुस्त्रिंशद्विधः । यथा, -- “चतुस्त्रिंशद्विधः सिद्धः सर्व्वकर्म्मोपकारकः । तमुपैति स्वयं सिद्धं भक्तस्तं नैव वाञ्छति ॥ द्वात्रिंशद्विधं सिद्धं सर्व्वसाधनकारणम् । मन्मुखात् श्रूयतां नन्द सिद्धमन्त्रं गृहाण च ॥ अणिमा लघिमा प्राप्तिः प्राकाम्य महिमा तथा ईशित्वञ्च वशित्वञ्च तथा कामावसायिता ॥ दूरश्रवणमेवेति परकायप्रवेशनम् । मनोवायित्वमेवेति सर्व्वज्ञत्वमभीप्सितम् ॥ वह्निस्तम्भं जलस्तम्भं चिरजीवित्वमेव वा । वायुस्तम्भं क्षुत्पिपासानिद्रास्तम्भनमेव च ॥ कायव्यूहञ्च वाक्सिद्धं मृतानयनमीप्सितम् । सृष्टीनां कारणञ्चैव प्राणाकर्षणमेव च ॥ प्राणानाञ्च प्रदानञ्च लोभादीनाञ्च स्तम्भनम् । इन्द्रियाणां स्तम्भनञ्च बुद्धिस्तम्भनमेव च ॥” इति ब्रह्मवैवर्त्ते श्रीकृष्णजन्मखण्डे । ७८ । २०-२९

सिद्ध m. a सिद्धor semidivine being of great purity and perfection and said to possess the eight supernatural faculties(See. 2. सिद्धि; accord. to some , the सिद्धs inhabit , together with the मुनिs etc. , the भुवर्-लोकor atmosphere between the earth and heaven ; accord. to VP. eighty-eight thousand of them occupy the regions of the sky north of the sun and south of the seven ऋषिs ; they are regarded as immortal , but only as living to the end of a कल्प[ q.v. ] ; in the later mythology the are some times confused with the ; साध्यs [ q.v. ] or take their place) A1s3vGr2.
