अर्बु (र्बु)द¦ न॰ अर्ब (र्व) विच् तस्मै उदेति उद् + इण्--ड। (आव् इति) ख्याते
१ मांसपिण्डाकारे रोगभेदे, स चसुश्रुतोक्तवर्त्माश्रयेषुएकविंशतिरोगेषु मध्येरोगभेदः
“पृथग्-दोषा समस्ताश्च यदा वर्त्म व्यपाश्रयाः। सिरा व्याप्यावतिष्ठन्तेवर्त्मस्वधिकमूर्च्छिताः। विवर्द्ध्य मांसं रक्तञ्च तदावर्त्मव्यापाश्रयान्। विकारान् जनयत्याशु नामतस्तान्निबोधत” इत्युपक्रम्य उत्सर्द्दिनोप्रभृतीन् एकविंशतिभेदान् उक्त्वा तेषां प्रत्येकलक्षणान्युक्तानि तत्र॰
“वर्त्मा-न्तरस्थं विषमं ग्रन्थिभूतमवेदनम्। विज्ञेयमर्बुदंपुंसां सरक्तमवलम्बितम्” इत्यर्वुदलक्ष्मोक्तम् अर्बुदञ्चनानाविधं मांसार्वुदर्शोणितार्वुदादिभेदात्।
“कृष्ण-स्फोटीसरक्तैश्च पिडकाभिश्च पीडितम्। यस्य वस्तिरुज-श्चोग्रा ज्ञेयं तच्छोणितार्बुदम्। मांसदोषेण जानीया-दर्बुदं मांससम्भवम्” एवं मेदोऽर्बुदादयोऽषि तत्रोक्तारोगभेदा ज्ञेयाः।

३ तत्संख्यातेषुमएकादिकोटिसंख्या दशगृणोत्तरा उक्त्वा अर्बुदमवजंखर्वनिखर्वमहापद्मशङ्क्षवस्तस्मात्” लीला॰

“प्रथमे मासि संक्लेदभूतो धातुविमूर्च्छितः। मास्यर्बुदंद्वितीये तु तृतीयेऽङ्गेन्द्रियैर्युतः” या॰ स्मृ॰
“द्वितीये तुमासि अर्बुदमीषत्कठिनं मांसपिण्डमयं भवति” मिता॰।

Arbuda is mentioned as Grāvastut priest at the snake festival described in the Pañcaviṃśa Brāhmaṇa.[१] He is obviously the same mythical figure as Arbuda Kādraveya, a seer spoken of in the Aitareya[२] and Kauṣītaki Brāhmaṇas[३] as a maker of Mantras.
