आचारः, पुं, (आङ् + चर् + घञ्) व्यवहरः । तत्पर्य्यायः । चरित्रं २ चरितं ३ चारित्रं ४ चरणं ५ वृत्तं ६ शीलं ७ । इति हेमचन्द्रः ॥ स्नानाच- मनादिः । इति मानवे २ अध्याये ६९ श्लोक- टीकायां कुल्लूकभट्टः । व्यवहारः ॥ स तु विचारः । यथा वृहस्पतिः । “आचारेणावसन्नोऽपि पुनर्लेखयते यदि । सोऽभिधेयो जितः पूर्ब्बं प्राङ्न्यायस्तु स उच्यते” ॥ इति व्यवहारतत्त्वं ॥ चरित्रं । एतद्विवरण सदा- चारशव्दे द्रष्टव्यं ॥ (रघुः । २ । १० । “आचार- लाजैरिव पौरकन्याः” ।)
