दशार्णः, पुं, (दश ऋणानि दुर्गभूमयो जलाधारा वा यत्र । “एत्येधत्यूट्सु ।” ८ । ४ । ६५ । इत्यस्य “प्रवत्सतरकम्बलवसनार्णदशानामृणे ।” इति वार्त्तिकोक्त्या वृद्धिः ।) देशविशेषः । स बिन्ध्य- पर्व्वतस्य पूर्ब्बदक्षिणस्यां दिशि वर्त्तते । (यथा, बृहत्संहितायाम् । १४ । १० । “किष्किन्धकण्टकस्थलनिषादराष्ट्राणि पुरिक- दशार्णाः ॥” तदस्याभिजनः तस्य राजा वा अण् । तद्देश- वासिनि तन्नृपतौ च त्रि । यथा, महाभारते । १ । ११३ । २५ । “पूर्ब्बमागस्कृतो गत्वा दशार्णाः समरे जिताः । पाण्डुना नारसिंहेन कौरवाणां यशोमृता ॥” दश अर्णानि वर्णानि यत्र । दशाक्षरमत्न- विशेषः । यथा, गोतमीयतन्त्रे । २ अध्याये । “दशानामपि तत्त्वानां साक्षी वेत्ता तथाक्षरम् । दशाक्षर इति ख्यातो मन्त्रराजः परात्परः ॥ लुप्तबीजस्वभावत्वात् दशार्ण इति कथ्यते ॥”) नदीविशेषे, स्त्री । इति शब्दार्थकल्पतरुः ॥

१ देशभेदे स चदेशः वृ॰ सं॰ कूर्म्मविभागे
१४ अ॰ आग्नेय्यामुक्तो यथा
“आग्नेय्यां दिशि कोसलाः” इत्युपक्रमे
“निषादराष्ट्राणिपुरिकदाशार्णाः”। स्वार्थे अण्।
“तुलाधरेऽवन्त्यपरान्त्यसाधून् बणिग्दशार्णान् भरुकच्छपांश्च”

“सप्त-व्याधा दशार्णेषु” श्राद्धे पाठ्यपितृगाथा। तद्वावकशब्दोयत्रानुवाकेऽध्याये अस्ति विमुक्ता॰ अण्। दाशार्ण दशार्ण-शब्दयुक्ते अनुवाके अध्याये च। सोऽभिजनोऽस्य तस्यराजा वा अण्। दाशार्ण पित्रादिक्रमेण तद्देशवासिनितन्नृपे च
“तत्र दाशार्णको राजा सुधर्म्मा लोमहर्षणम्। कृतवान् भीमसेनेन महद्युद्धंनिरायुधम्” भा॰ स॰

Daśārṇa : m. (pl.): Name of a Janapada and its people; the people or warriors of Daśārṇa also referred to as Dāśārṇa or Dāśārṇaka (f. -ikā).
A. Location: Listed by Saṁjaya among the northern Janapadas (also called Deśas 6. 10. 68) of Bhāratavarṣa (ata ūrdhvaṁ janapadān nibodha) 6. 10. 37, 5; uttamaujā daśārṇāś ca 6. 10. 39; mentioned as Janapada also in 4. 1. 9; were there two Daśārṇas:
(1) one to the east of Hāstinapura, and (2) another to its south ?:
(1) Bhīmasena in his conquest of the east (2. 26. 1, 7) reached Daśārṇa country after crossing Gaṇḍakī river and conquering the Videhas (tataḥ sa gaṇḍakīṁ śūro videhāṁś ca…/vijitya…daśārṇān agamat prabhuḥ) 2. 26. 4; the name of their king was Sudharman (tatra dāśārṇako rājā sudharmā) 2. 26. 5;
