पृष्ठभागोऽयं यन्त्रेण केनचित् काले काले मार्जयित्वा यथास्रोतः परिवर्तयिष्यते। तेन मा भूदत्र शोधनसम्भ्रमः। सज्जनैः मूलमेव शोध्यताम्।

प्राजापत्यम्, क्ली, (प्रजापतिर्देवतास्येति । प्रजापति + “दित्यदित्यादित्यपत्युत्तरपदात् ण्यः ।” ४ । १ । ८५ । इति ण्यः ।) द्बादशाहसाध्यव्रतविशेषः । तत्र दिवसत्रयं रात्रिमात्रभोजनम् २२ ग्रासाः । दिवसत्रयं दिवामात्रभोजनम् २६ ग्रासाः । दिवसत्रयं अयाचितभोजनम् २४ ग्रासाः । दिवसत्रयं उपवासः । यथा, -- “त्र्यहं सायं त्र्यहं प्रातस्त्र्यहमद्यादयाचि- तम् । त्र्यहं परन्तु नाश्नीयात् प्राजापत्यं चरन् द्विजः ॥” ग्राससंख्या पराशरेणोक्ता । “सायं द्वाविंशतिर्ग्रासाः प्रातः षड्विंशतिस्तथा अयाचिते चतुर्व्विंशः परञ्चानशनं स्मृतम् ॥” इति प्रायश्चित्ततत्त्वम् ॥ * ॥ तत्तु अगम्यागमनादिप्रायश्चित्तम् । यथा, -- “अगम्यागमनं कृत्वा मद्यगोमांसभक्षणम् । शुध्येच्चान्द्रायणाद्विप्रः प्राजापत्येन भूमिपः । वैश्यः शान्तपनाच्छूद्रः पञ्चाहोभिर्व्विशुध्यति ॥ प्रायश्चित्ते कृते दद्याद्गवां ब्राह्मणभोजनम् ॥” इति गारुडे २२६ अध्यायः ॥ * ॥ रोहिणीनक्षत्रम् । यथा, -- “ऐन्द्रे गुरुः शशी चैव प्राजापत्ये रविस्तथा । पूर्णिमा गुरुवारेण महाज्यैष्ठी प्रकीर्त्तिता ॥” इति प्रायश्चित्ततत्त्वम् ॥ (प्रजापतेरपत्यमिति । ण्यः । प्रजपतिपुत्त्रः । यथा, कुमारे । ६ । ३४ । “तस्मिन् संयमिनामाद्ये जाते परिणयोन्मुखे । जहुः परिग्रहव्रीडां प्राजापत्यास्तपस्विनः ॥” प्रजापतेरिदमिति । प्रजापतिसम्बन्धिनि, त्रि । यथा, मार्कण्डेये । ४९ । ७७ । “प्राजापत्यं ब्राह्मणानां स्मृतं स्थानं क्रिया- वताम् । स्थानमैन्द्रं क्षत्त्रियाणां संग्रामेष्वपलायिनाम् ॥”)

प्राजापत्यः, पुं, (प्रजापतेरयमिति । प्रजापति + ण्यः । “प्रजापतेर्यज्ञ आसीत् प्रयागे ।” इति महाभारतीय-। १ । ५५ । १ । वचनात् तथा- त्त्वम् ।) प्रयागः । इति त्रिकाण्डशेषः ॥ जैन- राजभेदः । तत्पर्य्यायः । त्रिपृष्ठः २ । इति हेमचन्द्रः । ३ । ५९ ॥ कायनामकविवाहः । सह धर्म्मं चरतां इति नियमं कृत्वा कन्या- दानम् । यथा, -- “इत्युक्त्वा चरतां धर्म्मं सहजा दीयतेऽर्थिने । स कायः पावयेत्तज्जः षट् षड्वंश्यान् सहा- त्मना ॥” इति मिताक्षरा ॥ कायः कः प्रजापतिर्देवता अस्येति प्राजापत्य इत्यर्थः । इत्युद्बाहतत्त्वम् ॥ (तथा च मनुः । ३ । ३० । “सहोभौ चरतां धर्म्ममिति वाचानुभाष्य च । कन्याप्रदानमभ्यर्च्च्य प्राजापत्यो विधिः स्मृतः ॥”)

“ब्राह्मोदैवस्तथैवार्षः प्राजापत्यस्तथासुरः” मनुना अष्ट विवाहानुद्दिश्य
“सहोभौ चरतां धर्ममितिवाचानुभाष्य च। कन्याप्रदानमभ्यर्च्य प्राजापत्यो विधिःस्मृतः” इति लक्षित
“त्र्यहं प्रातस्त्र्यहं सायं त्र्यहमद्या-दयाचितम्। त्र्यहं परञ्च नाश्नीयात् प्राजापत्यमितिस्मृतम्” इति स्मृत्युक्ते द्वादशाहसाध्ये

प्राजापत्य¦ m. (-त्यः)
1. A form of marriage, the gift of a girl, respectfully by her father to her lover.
2. A name of Alla4ha4ba4d or Praya4ga.
3. The first of the persons, called Va4sude4vas, by the Jainas. n. (-त्यं)
1. A sort of penance, eating once a day for three days in the morning, once in the night for three days subsisting, three days on food given as alms, and fasting three days more.
2. A particular sacrifice performed before appointing a daughter to raise issue in default of male heirs.
3. The asterism Rohi4ni
4. f. (त्या) Giving away the whole of one's property before entering up- on the life of an ascetic or mendicant. E. प्रजापति BRAMHA, and ण्यत् aff.

Born of Prajāpati (Brahmā); जहुः परि- ग्रहव्रीडां प्राजापत्यास्तपस्विनः Ku.6.34.

Belonging to Prajāpati; प्राजापत्योपनीतं तदन्नं प्रत्यग्रहीन्नृपः R.1.52.

त्यः One of the eight forms of marriage in Hindu law, in which the father gives his daughter to the bridegroom without receiving any present from him in order that the two may live happily and faithfully together; सहोभौ चरतां धर्ममिति वाचानुभाष्य च । कन्याप्रदानमभ्यर्च्यं प्राजापत्यो विधिः स्मृतः ॥ Ms.3.3; or इत्युक्त्वा चरतां धर्मं सह या दीयते$- र्थिने । स कायः (i. e. प्राजापत्यः) पावयेत्तज्जः षट् षड् वंश्यान्सहात्मना ॥ Y.1.6.

A kind of fast or penance; (व्यहं प्रातस्त्र्यहं सायं त्र्यहमद्यादयाचितम् । त्र्यहं परं च नाश्नीयात् प्राजापत्यमिति स्मृतम् ॥); प्राजापत्यं चरेत् कृच्छ्रमब्दमेकं समाहितः Ms.11.15.

The heaven of the manes (पितृलोक).

A descendant of प्रजापति; द्वया ह प्राजापत्या देवाश्चासुराश्च Bṛi. Up.1.3.1.

त्यम् Giving away the whole of one's property before entering upon the life of an ascetic; also प्राजापत्या.

Among the bad omens pointed out by Karṇa to Kṛṣṇa one was related to the lustrous, sharp planet Śanaiścara afflicting the Prājāpatya nakṣatra (= Rohiṇī?) while simultaneously afflicting living beings all the more (prājāpatyaṁ hi nakṣtraṁ grahas tīkṣṇo mahādyutiḥ/śanaiścaraḥ pīḍayati pīḍayan prāṇino 'dhikam) 5. 141. 7 (Nī. on Bom. Ed. 5. 143. 8: prājāpatyaṁ rohiṇīnakṣatram/prajānāṁ patir duryodhanas tadīyaṁ nāma nakṣatram uttarābhādrapadākhyam iti vā/tena patyuḥ pīḍayā prāṇinām api pīḍeti yuktam/yad vā pṛthvīkūrmodarasthāṁ rohiṇīm śanaiścaraḥ pīḍayati tena madhyadeśe mahān kṣayo rājño nāśaś ceti bhāvaḥ/)
