A kind of fish (ष्ठी also). -Comp. -पदः the month भाद्रपद; कुर्यादापरपक्षीयं मासि प्रौष्ठपदे द्विजः । श्राद्धं पित्रोर्यथावित्तं तद्बन्धूनां च वित्तवान् Bhāg.7.14.19. (-दा) the 25th and 26th lunar mansions; पूर्वाभाद्रपदा and उत्तराभाद्रपदा; these are double stars. 'चत्वार एकमभिकर्म देवाः प्रौष्ठपदास इति यान् वदन्ति' Ts.; गुणवन्तो$नुरूपाश्च रुच्या प्रौष्ठपदोपमाः Rām. 1.18.16.
