पृष्ठभागोऽयं यन्त्रेण केनचित् काले काले मार्जयित्वा यथास्रोतः परिवर्तयिष्यते। तेन मा भूदत्र शोधनसम्भ्रमः। सज्जनैः मूलमेव शोध्यताम्।

BHŪTĀLAYA(M) : A famous village in the purāṇas. It was a resort of thieves and robbers. Dead bodies were often thrown into the river which was flowing through this village. Mahābhārata, Vana Parva, Chap- ter 129, verse 9 says that it was against Śāstras to bathe in this river.
