पृष्ठभागोऽयं यन्त्रेण केनचित् काले काले मार्जयित्वा यथास्रोतः परिवर्तयिष्यते। तेन मा भूदत्र शोधनसम्भ्रमः। सज्जनैः मूलमेव शोध्यताम्।


मालिनी, स्त्री, (माला मुण्डमालास्त्यस्याः अस्यां वा । माला + “ब्रीह्यादिभ्यश्च ।” ५ । २ । ११६ । इति इनिः ङीप् ।) मातृकाभेदः । वृत्तभेदः । (मालिन् + ङीष् ।) मालिकपत्नी ॥ गौरी । चम्पानगरी । (यथा, महाभारते । १२ । ५ । ६ -- ७ । “प्रीत्या ददौ स कर्णाय मालिनीं नगरीमथ । अङ्गेषु नरशार्द्दूल ! स राजासीत् सपत्नजित् ॥ पालयामास चम्पाञ्च कर्णः परबलार्द्दनः ॥”) मन्दाकिनी । नदीभेदः । इति मेदिनी ॥ (यथा, महाभारते । १ । ७२ । ८ । “जनयामास मुनिर्मेनकायां शकुन्तलाम् । प्रस्थे हिमवतो रम्ये मालिनीमभितो नदीम् ।”) अग्निशिखावृक्षः । दुरालभा । इति शब्द- चन्द्रिका ॥ स च वृत्तभेदः पञ्चदशाक्षरपाद- च्छन्दः । यथा, -- “न न म य य युतेयं मालिनी भोगिलोकैः । मृगमदकृतचर्च्चा पीतकौशेयवासा रुचिरशिखिशिखण्डाबद्धधम्मिल्लपाशा । अनृजुनिहितमंसे वंशमुत्क्वाणयन्ती धृतमधुरिपुलीला मालिनी पातु राधा ॥” इति छन्दोमञ्जरी ॥ अप्सरोविशेषः । यथा, कथासरित्सागरे । ४५ । ३५२ । “पिङ्गलाच्च गणाज्जाता दशमी केशरावली । एकादशी मालिनीति नाम्ना कम्बलनन्दिनी ॥ स्कन्दमातॄणामन्यतमा । सैव शिशुमातॄणा- मन्यतमा । यथात्रैव । ३ । २२७ । १० । “काकी च हलिमा चैव मालिनी बृंहिला तथा । आर्य्या पलाला वैमित्रा सप्तैताः शिशुमातरः ॥” मालाग्रथनं शिल्पमस्याः । इनिः । ङीप् । द्रौपद्या नामान्तरम् । यथा, महाभारते । ४ । ८ । २१ । “मालिनीत्येव भे नाम स्वयं देवि चकार सा । साहमभ्यागता देवि ! सुदेष्णे ! त्वन्निवेशनम् ॥” राक्षसीभेदः । सा च विभीषणस्य माता । यथा, महाभारते । ३ । २७४ । ३ -- ८ । “स राजराजो लङ्कायां निवसन्नरवाहनः । राक्षसीः प्रददौ तिस्रः पितुर्वै परिचारिकाः ॥ ताः सदा तं महात्मानं सन्तोषयितुमुद्यताः । ऋषिं भरतशार्द्दूल ! नृत्यगीतविशारदाः ॥ पुष्पोत्कटा च राका च मालिनी च विशाम्पते ! । अन्योन्यस्पर्द्ध्वया राजन् ! श्रेयस्कामा सुमध्यमाः ॥ स तासां भगवांस्तुष्टो महात्मा प्रददौ वरान् । लोकपालोपमान् पुत्त्रानेकैकस्या यथेप्सितान् ॥ पुष्पोत्कटाया जज्ञाते द्वौ पुत्त्रौ राक्षसेश्वरौ । कुम्भकर्णदशग्रीवौ बलेनाप्रतिमौ भुवि ॥ मालिनी जनयामास पुत्त्रमेकं विभीषणम् । राकायां मिथुनं यज्ञे खरः शूर्पणखा तथा ॥” रौच्यमनुमाता । यथा, मार्कण्डेये । ९८ । ५ -- ७ । “तथेति तेन साप्युक्ता तस्मात्तोयाद्बपुष्मतीम् । उज्जहार ततः कन्यां मालिनीं नाम नामतः ॥ नद्याश्च पुलिने तस्मिन् स रुचिमुंनिसत्तमः । जग्राह पाणिं विधिवत् समानाय्य महामुनीन् ॥ तस्यां तस्य सुतो जज्ञे महावीर्य्यो महामतिः । रौच्योऽभवत् पितुर्नाम्ना ख्यातोऽत्र वसुधातले ॥” श्वेतकर्णस्य पत्नी । यथा, हरिवंशे । १८५ । ७ । “तस्माद्वनगताद्गर्भं यादवी प्रत्यपद्यत । सुचारोर्दुहिता सुभ्रूर्मालिनी भ्रातृमालिनी ॥”)
