(I)--the first of the four sons of ब्रह्मा, grandson of दक्ष and son of his daughter क्रिया; engaged in austerities on the slopes of the Meru; went to Maharloka and was reborn in the epoch of चाक्षुष; the other three names are परा, मरीचिगर्भ, and सुधर्माण; all of them sons of Rohita प्रजापति; फलकम्:F1: Br. (II)--Manu, son of दक्ष; had three sons, मरीचिगर्भस्, सुशर्मन् and सम्भूत--in the Vaivasvata epoch. वा. १००. ५९.

MERUSĀVARṆI : A Manu. (See under Manvantara). The daughter of this Merusāvarṇi named Svayamprabhā was met by Hanūmān on his way in search of Sītā. (Sarga 51, Kiṣkindhā kāṇḍa, Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa).
