पृष्ठभागोऽयं यन्त्रेण केनचित् काले काले मार्जयित्वा यथास्रोतः परिवर्तयिष्यते। तेन मा भूदत्र शोधनसम्भ्रमः। सज्जनैः मूलमेव शोध्यताम्।

(I)--one of the four pupils of पौष्यञ्जि; a श्रु- तऋषि; फलकम्:F1:  Br. II. ३३. 8; ३५. ४०; वा. ६१. ३६; Vi. III. 6. 6.फलकम्:/F composed six Samhitas. फलकम्:F2:  वा. ६१. ४२.फलकम्:/F

(II)--is बलराम; entered मिथिला and was received with presents by Maithila; after having chastised कृष्ण for having killed शतधन्व when he did not have the Syamantaka saying that he could have nothing to do with द्वारका or कृष्ण; but entreated by the वृष्णिस् and Andhakas, was brought back to द्वारका; see Hala (Bala- deva). Br. III. ७१. ७७; Vi. V. २५. 6, 9; वा. ९६, ७५-8, ८४.

(III)--an अवतार् of the Lord in the २२न्द् dva1- para in वाराणसी with हला for weapon and with four righteous sons. वा. २३. १९९.
