पृष्ठभागोऽयं यन्त्रेण केनचित् काले काले मार्जयित्वा यथास्रोतः परिवर्तयिष्यते। तेन मा भूदत्र शोधनसम्भ्रमः। सज्जनैः मूलमेव शोध्यताम्।

सर्पसत्री, [न्] पुं, (सर्पसत्रमस्यास्तीति । इनिः ।) जनमेजयराजः । इति शब्दरत्नावली ॥

सर्पसत्रिन्¦ m. (-त्री) A name of the prince JANAME4JAYA, the son of PARIKSHIT. E. सर्प a snake, and सत्र a sacrifice, इनि aff.; having compelled by Mantras all the snakes to be present at a sacrifice performed for their destruction, in retaliation of the death of his father who was killed by the bite of a snake; all were destroyed on this occasion except a few of the chiefs.
