सीलमावती f. (applied to the इन्दुs ; of doubtful meaning ; accord. to सायण" rich in plants " [fr. सिलना, " a kind of plant of which ropes are made "] ; accord. to others " rich in water ") RV. x , 75 , 8.

Sīlamāvatī in the Rigveda is, according to Ludwig, the name of a river; but this is most improbable. Sāyaṇa thinks the word means ‘rich in hemp.’
