 पृष्ठभागोऽयं यन्त्रेण केनचित् काले काले मार्जयित्वा यथास्रोतः परिवर्तयिष्यते। तेन मा भूदत्र शोधनसम्भ्रमः। सज्जनैः मूलमेव शोध्यताम्। |
स्थाणुतीर्थम्, क्ली, (स्थानोस्तीर्थम् ।) तीर्थविशेषः । यथा, वामने ४३ अध्याये । “स प्रोवाच महादेवो ब्रह्माणं प्रणतस्थितम् । पुण्यप्रदं नृणाञ्चैव तीर्थमाहात्म्यमुत्तमम् ॥ एतत् सन्निहितं प्रोक्तं सरः पुण्यप्रदं महत् । स्थाणुलिङ्गस्य माहात्म्यं ब्रह्मन् मेऽवहितः शृणु ॥ अचेतनः सचेता वा अज्ञो वा प्राज्ञ एव वा । लिङ्गस्य दर्शनादेव मुच्यते सर्व्वपातकैः ॥ पुष्करादीनि तीर्थानि समुद्रचरणानि च । स्थाणुतीर्थे समेष्यन्ति मध्यं प्राप्ते दिवाकरे ॥ तत्र स्थास्यति यो ब्रह्मन् माञ्च स्तोष्यति भक्तितः । तस्याहं सुलभो नित्यं भविष्यामि न संशयः ॥ इत्येवमुक्त्वा वचनं देवदेवो गतः प्रभुः । देवाश्च ऋषयः सर्व्वे स्वानि स्थानानि भेजिरे ॥ ततः प्रभृति लोकेऽस्मिन् स्थाणुतीर्थं वदन्ति हि ॥”

Sthāṇutīrtha : nt.: Name of a tīrtha.
A tīrtha on the river Sarasvatī (tasmin sarasvatītīrthe) 9. 41. 8; at Sthāṇutīrtha, on the eastern bank of the river, was the big āśrama of Vasiṣṭha; Sthāṇu (Śiva) practised severe austerities there; Sthāṇu offered a sacrifice there, worshipped Sarasvatī and established the tīrtha, known after him, as Sthāṇutīrtha; at this tīrtha gods consecrated Skanda as the chief of their army; at this tīrtha Viśvāmitra moved Vasiṣṭha from the eastern to the western bank 9. 41. 4-8.
