अमरावती, स्त्री, (अमरा विद्यन्तेऽस्यां, अमर + मतुप् मस्थाने व दीर्घश्च ।) इन्द्रनगरी । इत्यमरः ॥ अमराः सन्ति अस्यामिति मोङ्मझपादिति वतुः नाम्न्यस्त्यर्थे इति दीर्घः । इति भरतः ॥ तत्प- र्य्यायः । पूषभासा २ देवपूः ३ । इति जटाधरः ॥ महेन्द्रनगरी ४ अमरा ५ सुरपुरी ६ । इति शब्दरत्नावली ॥ तद्वर्णनं यथा । शिवशर्म्मोवाच । “रमयन्ती मनोऽतीव केयं कस्येयमीशितुः । नयनानन्दसन्दोहदायिनी पूरनुत्तमा” ॥ गणावूचतुः । “शिवशर्म्मन् महाभाग सुतीर्थफलितद्रुम । लोकोऽत्र रमते विप्र सहस्राक्षपुरी त्वियं ॥ तपोबलेन महता निर्म्मिता विश्वकर्म्मणा । दिवापि कौमुदी यस्याः सौधश्रेणीश्रियं श्रयेत् ॥ यदा कलानिधिः क्वापि दर्शेऽदृश्यत्वमावहेत् । तदा स्वप्रेयसीं ज्योत्स्नां सौधेष्वेषु निगूहयेत् ॥ यदच्छभित्तौ वीक्ष्य स्वमन्ययोषिद्विशङ्किता । मुग्धानाशु विशेच्चित्रमपि स्वां चित्रशालिकां ॥ हर्म्येषु नीलमणिभिर्न्निर्म्मितेष्वत्र निर्भयं । स्वनीलिमानमाधाय तमोऽहःस्वपि तिष्ठति ॥ चन्द्रकान्तशिलाजालस्रुतमत्रामलं जलं । तत्र चादाय कलसैर्न्नेच्छन्त्यन्यजलं जनाः ॥ कुविन्दा न च सन्त्यत्र न च ते पश्यतो हराः चेलान्यलङ्कृतीरत्र यतः कल्पद्रुमोऽर्पयेत् ॥ गणका नात्र विद्यन्ते चिन्ताविद्याविशारदाः । यतो जानाति सर्व्वेषां चिन्तां चिन्तामणिर्द्रुतं ॥ सूपकारा न सन्त्यत्र रसकर्म्मविचक्षणाः । दुग्धे सर्व्वरसानेका कामधेनुरतोऽनिशं ॥ कीर्त्तिरुच्चैःश्रवा यस्य सर्व्वतो वाजिराजिषु । रत्नमुच्चैःश्रवाश्चात्र हयानां पौरुषाधिकः ॥ ऐरावतो दन्तिराजश्चतुर्द्दन्तोऽत्र राजते । द्वितीय इव कैलासो जङ्गमः स्फाटिकोज्ज्वलः ॥ तरुरत्नं पारिजातः स्त्रीरत्नं सोर्व्वशी त्विह । नन्दनं वनरत्नञ्च रत्नं मन्दाकिनी ह्यपां ॥ त्रयस्त्रिंशत् सुराणां या कोटिः श्रुतिसमीरिता । प्रतीक्षते सावसरं सेवायै प्रत्यहं त्विह ॥ स्वर्गेष्विन्द्रपदादन्यन्नविशिष्येत किञ्चन । यद्यत् त्रैलोक्यमैश्वर्य्यं न तत्तुल्यमनेन हि ॥ अश्वमेधसहस्रस्य लभ्यं विनिमयेन यत् । किन्तेन तुल्यमन्यत् स्यात् पवित्रमथवा महत् ॥ अर्च्चिष्मती संयमनी पुण्यवत्यमलावती । गन्धवत्यलकैशी च नैतत्तुल्या महर्द्धिभिः ॥ अयमेव सहस्राक्षस्त्ययमेव दिवस्पतिः । शतमन्युरयन्देवो नामान्येतानि नामतः ॥ सप्तापि लोकपाला ये त एनं समुपासते । नारदाद्यैर्मुनिवरैरयमाशीर्भिरीड्यते ॥ एतत्स्थैर्य्येण सर्व्वेषां लोकानां स्थैर्य्यमिष्यते । पराजयान्महेन्द्रस्य त्रैलोक्यं स्यात् पराजितं ॥ मनुजा दनुजा दैत्यास्तपस्यन्त्युग्रसंयमाः । गन्धर्व्वयक्षरक्षांसि महेन्द्रपदलिप्सवः ॥ सगराद्या महीपाला वाजिमेधविधायकाः । कृतवन्तो महायत्नं शक्रैश्वर्य्यं जिघृक्षवः ॥ निष्प्रत्यूहं क्रतुशतं यः कश्चित् कुरुतेऽवनौ । जितेन्द्रियोऽमरावत्यां स प्राप्नोति पुलोमजां ॥ असमाप्तक्रतुशता वसन्त्यत्र महीभुजः । ज्योतिष्टोमादिभिर्यागैर्ये यजन्त्यपि ते द्विजाः ॥ तुलापुरुषदानादिमहादानानि षोडश । ये यच्छन्त्यमलात्मानस्ते लभन्तेऽमरावतीं ॥ अक्लीववादिनो धीराः संग्रामेष्वपराङ्मुखाः । विक्रान्ता वीरशयने तेऽत्र तिष्ठन्ति भूभुजः ॥ इत्युद्देशात् समाख्याता महेन्द्रनगरीस्थितिः । यायजूका वसन्त्यत्र यज्ञविद्याविशारदाः ॥ एतस्या दक्षिणे भागे येयं दृश्येत पूः शुभा । इमामर्च्चिष्मतीं वीक्ष्य वीतिहोत्रपुरीं शुभां” ॥ इति स्कान्दे काशीखण्डे १० अध्यायः ॥
