(III)--was stationed to defend the East gate of मथुरा by कृष्ण. Defeated कूपकर्ण, a minis- ter of बाण; was sent to हास्तिनपुर by कृष्ण to find out whether पान्डवस् had captured Drupada. He went and met द्रोण, Vidura and others, when युधिष्ठीर made enquiries of कृष्ण. He returned to द्वारका after taking leave of them and narrated to कृष्ण as he saw and heard; joined with अक्रूर to set up शतधन्वन् to kill सत्राजित् and take the jewel Syamantaka (s.v.) as he did not give his daughter in marriage as promised.
