गर्भः, पुं, (गीर्य्यते जीवसञ्चितकर्म्मफलदात्रा ईश्व- रेण प्रकृतिबलात् जठरगह्वरे स्थाप्यते पुरुष- शुक्रयोगेणासौ । गॄ + “अर्त्तिगॄभ्यां भन् ।” उणां । ३ । १५२ । इति कर्म्मणि भन् ।) भ्रूणः । तद्विवरणं यथा, -- “स्वर्गाच्च नरकान्मुक्तः स्त्रीणां गर्भो भवत्यपि । नाभिभूतञ्च तस्यैव याति बीजद्वयं हि तत् ॥ कलनं बुद्वुदत्वञ्च ततः पेशीत्वमेव च । पेश्यापलसमोऽण्डः स्यादङ्कुरस्तत उच्यते ॥ अङ्गानामथ चोत्पत्तिः पञ्चानामतुलांशकात् । उपाङ्गान्यङ्गुलीनेत्रनासास्यश्रवणानि च ॥ प्ररोहं यान्ति चाङ्गेभ्यस्तद्वत्तेभ्यो नखादिकम् । त्वचो रोमाणि जायन्ते केशाश्चैव ततः परम् ॥ नरश्चाधोमुखः स्थित्वा दशमे च स जायते । ततस्तु वैष्णवी माया समाश्रयति मोहिनी ॥ बालत्वन्तु कुमारत्वं यौवनं वृद्वतामपि । ततश्च मरणं तत्तद्धर्म्ममाप्नोति मानवः ॥ एवं संसारचक्रेऽस्मिन् भ्राम्यते घटियन्त्रवत् ।” इति गारुडे २२९ अध्यायः ॥ तस्य लक्षणं यथा, -- “गर्भाशयगतं शुक्रमार्त्तवं जीवसंज्ञकम् । प्रकृतिः सविकारा च तत् सर्व्वं गर्भसंज्ञकम् ॥ कालेन वर्द्धितो गर्भो यद्यङ्गोपाङ्गसंयुतः । भवेत्तदा स मुनिभिः शरीरीति निगद्यते ॥” * ॥ तदन्यप्रकृतिर्यथा, -- “यदा नार्य्यावुपेतायां वृषस्यन्तौ कथञ्चन । मुञ्चन्त्यौ शुक्रमन्योऽन्यमनस्थिस्तत्र जायते ॥ ऋतुस्नाता तु या नारी स्वप्ने मैथुनमाचरेत् । आर्त्तवं वायुरादाय कुक्षौ गर्भं करोति हि ॥ मासि मासि प्रवर्द्धेत स गर्भो गर्मलक्षणः । करणं जायते तस्या वर्जितं पैतृकैर्गुणैः ॥” इति भावप्रकाशः ॥ * ॥ अस्य द्बादशधा गतिर्यथा, -- “भुग्नोऽनिलेन विगुणेन ततः स गर्भः संख्यामतीत्य बहुधा समुपैति योनिम् । द्वारं निरुध्य शिरसा जठरेण कश्चित् कश्चिच्छरीरपरिवर्त्तितकुब्जदेहः ॥ एकेनं कश्चिदपरन्तु भुजद्वयेन तिर्य्यग्गतो भवति कश्चिदवाङ्मुखोऽन्यः । “पार्श्वापवृत्तगतिरेति तथैव कश्चि- दित्यष्टधा गतिरियं ह्यपरा चतुर्द्धा ॥ सङ्कीलकः प्रतिखुरः परिघोऽथ बीज- स्तेषूर्द्ध्वबाहुचरणैः शिरसा च योनौ । सङ्गी च यो भवति कीलकवत् सकीलो दृश्यैः खुरैः प्रतिखुरः स हि कायसङ्गी ॥ ग च्छेद्भुजद्वयशिराः स च बीजकाख्यो योनौ स्थितः सपरिघः परिघेण तुल्यः ॥” * ॥ गर्भनाशलक्षणादि । “अपविद्धशिरा या तु शीताङ्गां निरपत्रपा । नीलोद्गतशिरा हन्ति सा गर्भं स च तां तथा ॥ मानसागन्तुभिर्मातुरुपतापैः प्रपीडितः । गर्भो व्यापद्यते कुक्षौ व्याधिभिश्च प्रपीडितः ॥” * ॥ (आभ्यन्तरिकवस्तुमात्रम् । यथा, गोः रामा- यणे । ४ । २७ । ३ । “अष्टमासधृतं गर्भं भास्करस्य गभस्तिभिः । रसं सर्व्वसमुद्राणां द्यौः प्रसूते रसायनम् ॥”)
