 पृष्ठभागोऽयं यन्त्रेण केनचित् काले काले मार्जयित्वा यथास्रोतः परिवर्तयिष्यते। तेन मा भूदत्र शोधनसम्भ्रमः। सज्जनैः मूलमेव शोध्यताम्। |
ज्योतिष्कः, पुं, (ज्योतिरिव कायतीति । कै + कः ।) चित्रकवृक्षः । मेथिकाबीजम् । इति राज- निर्घण्टः ॥ (अस्य व्यवहारो यथा, “ज्योतिष्क- फलतैलं वा क्षीरेण स्वर्ज्जिका हिङ्गु मिश्रं पिबेत् ॥” इति चिकित्सितस्थाने चतुर्द्दशेऽध्याये सुश्रुतेनोक्तम् ॥) गणिकारिकावृक्षः । इति रत्नमाला ॥

ज्योतिष्क¦ पु॰ ज्योतिरिव कायति कै--क।
१ चित्रकवृक्षे
“एतान्योवावाप्य क्षारकल्पेन निस्रुतेपालाशे क्षारे ततोविपाच्य फाणितमिव सञ्जातमवतार्य्यलेपयेत्। ज्यो-[Page3163-b+ 38] तिष्क फललाक्षामरिचपिप्पलीसुमनःपत्रैर्वा” सश्रु॰।
२ मेथिकावीजे च राजनि॰।
३ गणकारिकावृक्षे रत्नमा॰।
४ ग्रहतारानक्षत्रादौ ब॰ व॰
“तदीशभागे तस्याद्रेः शृङ्गमादित्यसन्निभम्। यत्तत् ज्योतिष्कमित्याहुः सदा पशु-पतेः प्रियम्” इत्युक्ते

ज्योतिष्क¦ m. (-ष्कः)
1. A planetary or heavenly body; the generic term for the sun, the moon, a planet, an asterism, a star: the word in the m. plu. (-ष्काः) implies all these five.
2. A tree, the wood of which is used to produce fire by attribution: see गणिकारिका f. (-का) Heart-pea: see ज्योतिष्मती। E. ज्योतिस् light, and क what makes, from कृ, with ड aff.

Jyotiṣka : nt.: Name of a summit of the mountain Meru.
Described as famous in the three worlds (trailokyaviśruta); adorned with all kinds of jewels (sarvaratnavibhūṣita); immeasurable and unassailable in all the worlds (aprameyam anādhṛṣyaṁ sarvalokeṣu) 12. 274. 5; the wind which blew there was auspicious, pleasing, carrying different fragrances and pure (vavau śivaḥ sukho vāyur nānāgandhavahaḥ śuciḥ), and the big trees there blossomed with flowers of all seasons (sarvartukusumopetāḥ puṣpavanto mahādrumāḥ) 12. 274. 11; it was sacred to Savitṛ (sāvitra) 12. 274. 5; god (Śiva) once sat there (giritaṭe) with his wife and was attended by gods and other celestial beings 12. 274. 6-12.
