बलरामः, पुं, (रम + भावे घञ् । बलेन रामो रमणं यस्य ।) बलदेवः । यथा, -- “बलरामानुजः श्रीमान् गजेन्द्रस्तुतपादकः ॥” इति नारदपञ्चरात्रे चतुर्थरात्रीयः ८ अध्यायः ॥ अस्य ध्यानम् । “अन्तरे दिव्य उद्याने हरिचन्दनसंज्ञके । तत्राधस्तात् स्वर्णपीठे विचित्रे मणिमण्डपे ॥ तन्मध्ये मणिमाणिक्यदिव्यसिंहासनोज्ज्वले । तत्रोपरि च रेवत्या सङ्कर्षणहलायुधम् ॥ ईश्वरस्याभयानन्तमभिन्नगुणरूपिणम् । शुद्धस्फटिकसंकाशं रक्ताम्बुजदलेक्षणम् ॥ नीलचेलधरं स्निग्धं दिव्यगन्धानुलेपनम् । कुण्डलाश्लिष्टसद्गण्डं दिव्यमूषाम्बरस्रजम् ॥ मधुपाने सदासक्तं मदाघूर्णितलोचनम् । मुषलं दक्षिणे पाणौ बलरामं सदा स्मरेत् ॥” इति कश्चिन्निबन्धः ॥

बलराम¦ पु॰ बलेन रमते रम--संज्ञायां कर्त्तरि घञ् बलोप-पदको वा रामःशा॰ त॰। कृष्णाग्रजे रोहिणीनन्दने संक-र्षणे रामस्य दाशरथिपरशुरामबलरामभेदेन त्रित्वात् अस्यबलोपदकत्वात्तथात्वम्।

बलराम/ बल--राम m. N. of the elder brother of कृष्णand third of the रामs (regarded as the 8th अवतारof विष्णु, sometimes as an incarnation of the great serpent शेषor अन्-अन्त; he is also called बल, बल-देव, बल-भद्र, and हला-युध, See. IW. 332 etc. ) MBh. Pur.
