पृष्ठभागोऽयं यन्त्रेण केनचित् काले काले मार्जयित्वा यथास्रोतः परिवर्तयिष्यते। तेन मा भूदत्र शोधनसम्भ्रमः। सज्जनैः मूलमेव शोध्यताम्।

विचित्रवीर्य/ वि-चित्र---वीर्य m. " of marvellous heroism " , N. of a celebrated king of the lunar race (the son of शांतनुby his wife सत्य-वती, and so half-brother of भीष्म; when he died childless , his mother requested व्यास, whom she had borne before her marriage to the sage पराशर, to raise up issue to विचित्र-वीर्य; so व्यासmarried the two widows of his half-brother , अम्बिकाand अम्बालिका, and by them became the father of धृत-राष्ट्रand पाण्डु; See. IW. 375 ; 376 ) MBh. Hariv. Pur.
