 पृष्ठभागोऽयं यन्त्रेण केनचित् काले काले मार्जयित्वा यथास्रोतः परिवर्तयिष्यते। तेन मा भूदत्र शोधनसम्भ्रमः। सज्जनैः मूलमेव शोध्यताम्। |
विष्कम्भः, पुं, सप्तविंशतियोगान्तर्गतप्रथमयोगः । शुभकर्म्मणि तस्य पञ्च दण्डास्त्याज्याः । यथा, -- “त्यजादौ पञ्च विष्कम्भे सप्त शूले च नाडिकाः । गण्डव्याघातयोः षट् च नव हर्षणवज्रयोः । वैधृतिव्यतिपातौ च समस्तौ परिवर्ज्जयेत् ॥” इति सत्कृत्यमुक्तावली ॥ * ॥ तत्र जातफलम् । “विष्कम्भयोगो यदि जन्मकाले कार्य्ये स्वतन्त्रो मनुजस्तदानीम् । सुहृत्कलत्रात्मजसौख्यमुग्रं गृहस्य निर्म्माणविधौ समर्थः ॥” इति कोष्ठीप्रदीपः ॥ * ॥ विस्तारः । (यथा, बृहत्संहितायाम् । ५३ । २४ । “उच्छ्रायोऽङ्गुलतुल्यो द्वारस्यार्द्धेण विष्कम्भः ॥”) प्रतिबन्धः । रूपकाङ्गप्रभेदः । योगिनां बन्ध- भेदः । इति मेदिनी । भे, १९ ॥ वृक्षः । इत्य- जयः ॥ अर्गला । इति भरतः ॥

विष्कम्भ¦ m. (-म्भः)
1. The first of the twenty-seven astronomical periods, called Yo4ga4s or Yo4ga star of the first lunar mansion.
2. Obstacle, hindrance, impediment, resistance.
3. Spreading, extension.
4. Act, doing any thing.
5. A posture of the devotees called Yogi4s.
6. One of the performers at a dramatic entertainment, either an actor who in the intervals of the scenes explains to the audience the progress of the story, or one or two of the personages of the drama, who do the same in a soliloquy or dialogue.
7. A tree.
8. The bolt or bar of a door.
9. A post, the roof-tree of a house.
10. The diameter of a circle. E. वि before ष्कभि to stop or hinder, aff. घञ्; or वि + स्कन्भ्-अच्; also with कन् added, विष्कम्भक |
