वैद्युत [vaidyuta], a. (-ती f.) [विद्युत इदम् अण्] Belonging to or proceeding from lightning, electric; वृक्षस्य वैद्युत इवाग्नि- रुपस्थितो$यम् V.5.16; U.5.13. -तम् The fire or lustre of lightning; पिशङ्गवासा वनमालया बभौ घनो यथार्कोडुपचापवैद्युतैः Bhāg.1.11.27;1.36.33. -Comp. -अग्निः, -अनलः, -वह्निः the fire of lightning.

(I)--a king of fire originating in waters, and hence cannot be quenched by waters. (पावक Agni); a son of ब्रह्मा. Br. II. १२. 2; २४; ११; वा. २९. 7; ५१. २६; ५३. 8.
(II)--a son of वपुष्मत् after whom came the kingdom Vaidyuta. Br. II. १४. ३२-4; ३३. २९-30; Vi. II. 4. २३, १२९.
(III)--a Mt. in India. Br. II. १६. २१; वा. ४५. ९०; ४७. १४.
(IV)--Mt. near कैलास, noted for lake मानस. It has the stream सरयू and forest वैभ्राज. Here lives Prahati's son, being a follower of Kubera. Br. II. १८. १४-16.
