To heat, warm; संतप्तचामीकर Bk.3.3; संत्तप्तायसि संस्थितस्य पयसो नामापि न ज्ञायते Bh.2.67.

To parch, dry up.

To pain by heat, torture. -Pass.

To become hot or heated.

To be distressed, suffer pain, be sorry; संतप्तानां त्वमसि शरणम् Me.7 'of the afflicted'; दिवापि मयि निष्कान्ते संतप्येते गुरू मम Mb.; Bh.2.87.

To repent, be stung with remorse; अवधूतप्रणिपाताः पश्चात् संतप्यमानमनसो$पि V.3.5.
