सत्, क्ली, (अस्तीति । अस + शतृ) ब्रह्म । यथा । भगवद्गीतायाम् । “ओम् तत्सदिति निर्द्देशो ब्रह्मणस्त्रिविधः स्मृतः ब्राह्मणास्तेन वेदाश्च यज्ञाश्च विहिताः पुरा ॥” ओम् तत् सदिति त्रिविधो ब्रह्मणो जगदी- श्वरस्य निर्द्देशोऽभिधानं ब्रह्मविद्भिश्चिन्तितम् । तत्र तावदोमितिब्रह्मेत्यादि श्रुतिप्रसिद्धेरोमिति ब्रह्मणो नाम । पातञ्जलिरप्याह अस्यव वाचकः प्रणवः । अस्य ब्रह्मणः । ओम्कारो भगवान् विष्णुरित्यादि तु वाच्यवाचकयोरभेदेन । तथा च । जगत्कारणत्वेन प्रसिद्धत्वादविदुषां परोक्ष- त्वाच्च तच्छब्दोऽपि ब्रह्मणो नाम । एवं पर- मार्थसत्त्वसाधुत्वप्रशस्तत्वादिभिः सच्छब्दोऽपि अतस्तेन त्रिविधनिर्द्देशेना यद्वा यस्यायं त्रिविधो निर्द्देशस्तेन परमात्मना ब्राह्मणादयो निर्म्मिताः ॥ वैदिके कर्म्मणि तेषां प्रथमतो निर्द्देशो यथा, -- “तस्मादोमित्युदाहृत्य यज्ञदानतपःक्रियाः । प्रवर्त्तन्ते विधानोक्ताः सततं ब्रह्मवादिनाम् ॥” यस्मादेवं ब्रह्मणो निर्द्देशस्तस्मादोमित्युदाहृत्य उच्चार्य्य कृता वेदवादिनां यज्ञाद्याः शास्त्रोक्ताः क्रियाः सततमङ्गवैकल्येऽपि प्रवर्त्तन्ते प्रकर्षेण वर्त्तन्ते सगुणा भवन्तीति भगवान् शङ्कराचार्य्य- चरणाः ॥ “तदित्यनभिसन्धाय यज्ञदानतपःक्रियाः । दानक्रियाश्च विविधाः क्रियन्ते मोक्षकाङ्क्षिभिः ॥” तदिति ब्रह्मणोऽभिधानमुदाहृत्य इत्यनुषङ्गः । अनभिसन्धाय कर्म्मणः फलमिति शेषः । तस्मात् फलाभिसन्धानं विना मुमुक्षुणा कर्म्म कर्त्तव्य- मित्यपि बोध्यम् । “सद्भावे साधुभावे च सदित्येतत् प्रयुज्यते । प्रशस्ते कर्म्मणि तथा सच्छब्दः पार्थ युज्यते ॥” यतो विद्यमानजन्मनि उत्कृष्टचरिते च सदि- त्येतत् प्रयुज्यते । अतो यज्ञादौ कर्म्मणि प्रथ- मतः सच्छब्दः प्रयुज्यते । इत्येकादशीतत्त्वम् ॥ * ॥
