पृष्ठभागोऽयं यन्त्रेण केनचित् काले काले मार्जयित्वा यथास्रोतः परिवर्तयिष्यते। तेन मा भूदत्र शोधनसम्भ्रमः। सज्जनैः मूलमेव शोध्यताम्।

(I)--daughter of विश्वकर्मन् (त्वष्ट्(r)a-म्। and ब्र्। प्।); consort of सूर्य (Vivasvat-भा। प्।) gave birth to Manu, Yama and यमी; unable to bear the effulgence of [page३-542+ २९] her husband, she engaged छाया, her servant maid, to take her place, and left for penance; to छाया were born शनैश्- cara, Manu (सावर्णि), तपती; finding fault with Yama once the Sun god discovered छाया's identity and after a search found सम्ज्ञा doing penance as a mare in the plains of Utta- rakuru; फलकम्:F1:  भा. VIII. १३. 8-9: VI. 6. ४०: IX. 1. ११: M. ११. 2 and २४-37; वा 84. २१; १००. ३१.फलकम्:/F he became a horse in turn and सम्ज्ञा as a mare gave birth to three more children; the two अश्विन्स् and Re- vanta; विश्वकर्म filed off the वैष्णव effulgence and out of this he crafted the discus of विष्णु, the trident of शिव, the पुष्पकविमान of Kubera the lance (शक्ति) of कार्तिकेय and others. फलकम्:F2:  Br.
