 पृष्ठभागोऽयं यन्त्रेण केनचित् काले काले मार्जयित्वा यथास्रोतः परिवर्तयिष्यते। तेन मा भूदत्र शोधनसम्भ्रमः। सज्जनैः मूलमेव शोध्यताम्। |
सुभद्रा, स्त्री, (शोभनं भद्रमस्याः ।) श्यामालता । इति शब्दमाला ॥ (अस्याः पर्य्यायो यथा, -- “कालपेषी महाश्यामा सुभद्रोत्पलशारिवा । दीर्घमूला च पालिन्दी मसूरविदला च सा ॥” इति वैद्यकरत्नमालायाम् ॥) घृतमण्डा । इति शब्दचन्द्रिका ॥ काश्मरी । इति राजनिर्घण्टः ॥ श्रीकृष्णभगिनी । सा च अर्ज्जुनभार्य्या । यथा, -- श्रीकृष्ण उवाच । “ममैषा भगिनी पार्थ सारणस्थ सहोदरा । सुभद्रा नाम भद्रं ते पितुर्मे दयिता सुता । यदि ते वर्त्तते बुद्धिर्व्वक्ष्यामि पितरं स्वयम् ॥ अर्ज्जुन उवाच । दुहिता वसुदेवस्य वासुदेवस्य च स्वसा । रूपेण चैषा सम्पन्ना कमिवैषा न मोहयेत् ॥ निवृत्तश्चार्ज्जुनस्तत्र विवाहं कृतवान् प्रभुः । पूर्णे तु द्वादशे वर्षे खाण्डवप्रस्थमागतः ॥” इति महाभारते आदिपर्व्वणि २२१ अध्यायः (पीठस्थानस्थदेवीविशेषः । यथा, देवीभाग- वते । ७ । ३० । ७५ । “उत्पलावर्त्तके लोला सुभद्रा शोणसङ्गमे ॥”)

One of the four daughters of Surabhi who live in four directions guarding and sustaining them (diśāpālyaḥ, dhārayaṅtyo diśaḥ); Subhadrā, of great prowess and of all-forms (mahānubhāvā, viśvarūpā) sustains the western direction 5. 100. 7, 9; water of the ocean, churned by the gods and demons, was mixed with the milk of Subhadrā, her three sisters and Surabhi 5 100. 11.
