पृष्ठभागोऽयं यन्त्रेण केनचित् काले काले मार्जयित्वा यथास्रोतः परिवर्तयिष्यते। तेन मा भूदत्र शोधनसम्भ्रमः। सज्जनैः मूलमेव शोध्यताम्।

अभयम्, क्ली, (भयस्याभावः इत्यव्ययीभावः, यद्वा नास्ति भयं यस्मात् तत्, हरीतक्यां दुर्गामूर्त्तिभेदे च स्त्री ।) वीरणमूलं । इत्यमरः ॥ भयाभावः । (“नातः परतरो धर्म्मो नृपाणां यद्रणार्ज्जितं” । विप्रेभ्यो दीयते द्रव्यं प्रजाभ्यश्चाभयं सदा” । इति याज्ञवल्क्यः । “योदत्वा सर्व्वभूतेभ्यः प्रव्रजत्यभयं गृहात् । तस्य तेजोमया लोका भवन्ति ब्रह्मवादिनः” ॥ इति मनुः ।) “प्रवृत्तिञ्च निवृत्तिञ्च कार्य्याकार्य्ये भयाभये । बन्धं मोक्षञ्च या वेत्ति बुद्धिः सा पार्थ सात्त्विकी” ॥ इति श्रीभगवद्गीता ॥ भयरहिते त्रि । इति विश्वः ॥

1. Absence or removal of fear.
2. The root of a fragrant grass, (Andropogon muricatum.) f. (-या) Yellow myrobalan, (Terminalia citrina.) mfn. (-यः-या-यं) Fearless, undaunted. E. अ neg. and भय fear; the plant removing the dread of disease.

Abhaya : m. Name of a dialogue (saṁvāda) (saṁvādam abhayaṁ nāma nāmataḥ) that took place between a Brāhmaṇa who was versed in jñāna and vijñāna and his wife Brāhmaṇī.

Called itihāsam purātanam 14. 20. 1; the dialogue started when the Brāhmaṇī asked the Brāhmaṇa which world she would go to (after death) having obtained him for husband (14. 20. 4); in this dialogue the Brāhmaṇa stands for mind (manas) and the Brāhmaṇī for understanding (buddhi) of Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa) 14. 34. 12; this saṁvāda was narrated by Vāsudeva to Pārtha (Arjuna); it comprises adhyāyas 14. 20-34.
