DABHĪTI : A hermit who is praised much in the Ṛg- veda. It is mentioned in Ṛgveda, Maṇḍala 1, Anuvāka 16, Sūkta 112, that the Aśvinīdevas had saved Turvīti, Dabhīti, Dhvasanti and Puruṣanti, the sons of Indra, from a danger.

Dabhīti appears several times in the Rigveda as a hero or sage. Indra overcomes on his behalf Cumuri and Dhuni;[१] he pressed Soma for Indra,[२] who rewarded him.[३] For him 30,000 Dāsas were sent to sleep,[४] and for him the Dasyus were bound without cords.[५] Dabhīti also appears, with Turvīti, as a protégé of the Aśvins.[६] There seems no reason to deny that he was a real person.[७]
