Tādurī is mentioned in a verse of the Atharvaveda[१] together with the female frog (Maṇḍūkī). Some similar animal must be meant,[२] but Roth,[३] with the commentator Durga on the Nirukta,[४] regards the word as an adjective describing the frog.
