1. A bull set at liberty.

(I)--a son of शुक्र and a tutor of प्रह्लाद; reported with Marka to हिरण्यकशिपु of their inability to bring the boy to his way of thinking and advised him to keep him in custody until शुक्र's arrival. भा. VII. 5. 1-2, ४८-50; Br. III. 1. ७८; वा. ६५. ७७.

(II)--a कूष्माण्ड Pis4a1ca, one of the two sons of Kapi; father of ब्रह्मधामा. Br. III. 7. ७४-84.

(III)--an Asura; seen in the bathing ceremony of the sacrifice of the gods; फलकम्:F1:  M. ४७. ४१, ५४.फलकम्:/F one of the disciples of शुक्र given to the Asuras to guide them; but he was bought off by the gods by giving him a place in sacrifices. फलकम्:F2:  Ib. ४७. २२४-36.फलकम्:/F

Rākṣasa Kalmāṣapāda told a certain king that Śaṇḍas were the bodily dirt of Mauṣṭikas and those whose sacrificial priests were of the warrior caste were the dirt of Śaṇḍas (mauṣṭikānāṁ malaṁ śaṇḍāḥ śaṇḍānāṁ rājayājakāḥ) 8. 30. 70.
